Brief Biography
Guillaume de Villaret led the Hospitallers on Cyprus at the turn of the fourteenth century.

Life and service to the Order
His nephew Foulques de Villaret succeeded him and oversaw the Order's move to Rhodes.
Rhodes provided the Order with a new island headquarters after its departure from the Holy Land. Its masters balanced hospitaller service, maritime defence and the government of a fortified Mediterranean state.
