Brief Biography
Jean de Villiers was Master when Acre, the last major Crusader stronghold in the Holy Land, fell in 1291.

Life and service to the Order
He survived the siege and led the Hospitallers into their period of refuge on Cyprus.
In this period the Hospitallers maintained a hospital and defended their communities in the Holy Land. Their base shifted to Acre after the loss of Jerusalem, and to Cyprus after the fall of Acre in 1291.
